Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal
Starring - Atharva, Amala Paul
Director - Elred Kumar
Rating: 2.4 out of 5

Well begun, half done
Even a confusing story can be given clarity with a clever screenplay. Sadly, this is where director Elred Kumar has missed out, in his maiden venture Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal, starring Atharva and Amala Paul in lead roles.
A producer by profession (Ko, Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya), Kumar has spent a lot of money on his debut venture as filmmaker. For, the movie is grand and glossy from scene one. Had only he spent some time on crafting the screenplay more intact, the film would have been more interesting.
Sakthi's cinematography is a treat to watch. Be it the software company in Chennai, Atharva's house in Bangalore or the locales in the United States, Sakthi is there, giving power to the film.
G V Prakash Kumar's music is another big strength. The music composer who is credited with knowing the pulse of today's audience, has proved it once again in Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal, with his songs and background score.
The story goes like this: Ram (Atharva) works in an IT firm in Chennai. He gives his best to the work from Monday to Friday, only to escape to Bangalore to spend Saturday and Sunday with his lover Charu (Amala Paul).
One day, his company's CEO comes from the United States and she is Latha (Amala Paul). Though Latha is shocked to see Ram, he is in his usual self. Latha seeks the help of a psychiatrist (Jayaprakash) to set things right.
As the psychiatrist goes deep into Ram's mind, some shocks are unveiled. What happened to him? Why is he in a state of confusion? Who is his real lover? Well, the suspense is maintained till the climax.
Atharva gets a lifetime role and he has utilised the opportunity good. He has shown a lot of improvement when compared to his maiden film Bana Kathadi. Amala Paul is beautiful and emotes well too. Nasser, Jayaprakash, Santhanam and Anupama are there to add value to their respective roles.
Editor Antony C Ruban has apparently given more freedom to the director and has left out to cut some unwanted scenes. Songs come at regular intervals to harm the flow of the story. Also, we get a deja vu feel at places. But still, Muppozhudhum Un Karpanaigal can be enjoyed for its grandeur. And there are some good romantic scenes as well.
