The plot
Two families (Konda Reddy and Lala Gaud's) have a history of violence due to an eloped marriage. A 30 acres land is the bone of contention for those two families which happens to be right in the middle of their properties. They kill whoever tries to buy that land. Ranga (Sunil) is conned into buying that land. How does Ranga solve this family war is the basic plot of the film.
The film
The film has a plot that's been done to death off late including the narration with dollops of comedy. But it's the pace at which the director narrates and the actors performance and timing that makes the film very entertaining especially the first half of the film.
The entire episode of Sunil talking in English and later Hindi is hilarious. And this tempo is maintained throughout the first half although it's a bit long and one starts to feel edgy towards the intermission. But a good intermission saves the day here.
Second half of the film begins well but soon shifts into melodrama. This would not have been a problem if not for the predictably associated with the proceedings. Once again the director covers this flaw with action and comedy at the right moment and breaks the monotony making the going on look exciting even if predictable. This can be perfectly seen in the pre climax fight sequence in forest.
The entire climax set up with hero initially getting beaten and then miraculously gaining power because of holy water falling on his face and then a spear tearing the shirt to reveal the six packs of hero is very entertaining in a very retro sort of way. Its all well executed and makes people silently stare at the proceeding if not completely involve rather than mocking at it.
Over all the film is an easy one time watch for an entertaining first half and a predictable but engaging second half.
The cast
Sunil is really the surprise package of the film and more of the actor is revealed as we go along the film. His dances are amazing and his comic timing needs no further introduction. But he needs to take care of his expressions especially during the fight sequences as they don't convey the rage and looks a tad too naïve.
Heroine Isha Chawla dances well and that's about it.
Dev Gill (Konda Reddy) who previously enthralled us all with his Ranadev Billa act in Magadheera gets another such role. He plays the perfect antagonist in this film and when he gets his moment to have fun he has it too.
Pradeep Rawat (Lala Gaud) too gets a big role but he comes up with a routine performance which he has done time and again. His gets to do something besides his regular guffawing in the end and he does it well.
Apart from the hero and villain it's the comedians like Ali, Satyam Rajesh and Prithvi who provide the film its entertaining moments.
The crew
Director Veerabhadram has taken a predictable story and made it interesting with fast paced screenplay and comedy. He has also extracted good performances from the cast too. Poolarangadu is as much as his film as of Sunil's.
Music by Anup Rubens is fine and background score especially some sounds used for the villain are good.
Cinematography by Prasad Murella is alright and could have been a lot better.
The conclusion
The film is entertaining and can be watched once easily if one ignores the predictability factor.
Rating: 3/5
