Kerala Association of Colorado, USA celebrates Indian Dance Festival

Kerala Association of Colorado celebrated its annual Indian Dance Festival on May 14, 2011 at West High School, Denver, Colorado. This is the 12th year Kerala Association of Colorado has celebrated this festival. This dance festival provides Indian community in Colorado an opportunity to witness and enjoy various forms of Indian classical and filmy dances on a single stage.

This year's event included a Tantric Dance called Vajra Yogini from Katmandu Valley, Nepal, a folk dance from Nepal, and a fusion of Indian and Spanish dances called Desi Caliente in addition to various forms Indian classical and filmy dances. The Indian dance forms presented at this event included Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, and Kathakkali apart from filmy dances. Various artists, young and old, enthralled the audiences with their beautiful performances for about 4 hours. Special Guest, Lakshmi Kurup of Noopura Institute of Classical Dance, New York, has mesmerized the audience with her performances of Kuchipudi, Mohiniyattam, and Bharata Natyam.
