Sensex closed 137 points up

Mumbai: A benchmark index at Indian equities markets Friday provisionally closed 137 points up, paring some of its intra-day gains.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened at 18,331.2 points, closed at 18,291.32 points (provisional), 137.33 points or 0.76 percent up from its previous close at 18,153.99 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also closed higher at 5,568.35 points, up 46.4 points or 0.84 percent from its previous close.
Broader markets also closed in the green, with the BSE 500 index ending 0.7 percent up. The BSE midcap index closed flat while the BSE smallcap index slipped 0.18 percent.
